On March 6, 2026, mathematician and Thiel Capital managing director Eric Weinstein appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored and made a claim that pulled three of the most controversial threads in American public life into a single knot:

“New Mexico is going to be the hub that connects atomic weapons, UFOs, and Jeffrey Epstein. And they’re all going to merge into one story about power that we don’t understand.”

The interview covered Iran, AI, and conspiracy theory as a concept – but the final twenty minutes landed squarely on the territory this site covers: the intersection of elite science, government secrecy, and the UFO phenomenon. Weinstein’s argument is not that aliens are real. It’s that the people who would know – the physicists, the mathematicians, the weapons designers – were being watched, recruited, and in some cases compromised by a man whose operation was far more sophisticated than the public sex-trafficking narrative suggests.

What follows is what Weinstein said, what’s documented, and where the line between evidence and interpretation runs.

‘People Are Not Understanding This Was a Science Spy’

The strongest factual anchor in Weinstein’s argument is now a matter of public record. In February 2026, citing newly released Department of Justice documents, the journal Nature reported that Epstein invested millions of dollars in science projects, made donations to MIT and Harvard, and maintained a list of nearly 30 top scientists. Researchers consulted a convicted sex offender on publications, visas, and public relations crises – and “even allowed him deep involvement in their research work.”

The Associated Press followed with its own reporting: professors named in the files said they had hoped their friendship with Epstein would benefit their research. Harvard expanded its internal probe into institutional ties to Epstein.

None of this is speculation. It’s documented.

Weinstein goes further. He argues Epstein’s operation was not primarily about sex trafficking – it was about intelligence collection targeting the most strategically important minds in mathematics and physics:

“People are not understanding this was a science spy and he was spying direct… He was spying directly on my work.”

Weinstein, who holds a PhD in mathematics from Harvard, claims Epstein possessed information about his work on Seiberg–Witten equations from the late 1980s and early 1990s – work that Weinstein says connects to gravitational theory, though it was not recognized as such at the time. He names multiple Harvard mathematics department figures who appear in the Epstein files: Shing-Tung Yau, Martin Nowak, Clifford Taubes, Michael Hopkins, and Benedict Gross – the last a number theorist and elliptic curve expert whom Weinstein identifies as the person who “pioneered Jeffrey Epstein’s entry into the Harvard math department.”

This is Weinstein’s thesis, not an established intelligence finding. But the underlying access is documented. Nature’s reporting confirms Epstein’s deep and sustained presence in exactly the academic networks Weinstein describes.

The Listening Posts

Weinstein frames Epstein’s real estate as an intelligence architecture – not a portfolio of luxury properties, but a network of collection points positioned at nodes of maximum scientific value.

“He was setting up listening posts in exactly the most telling places. Zorro Ranch is close to Sandia Laboratory and Los Alamos Laboratory… and One Brattle Square in the 02138 area code of Massachusetts is a listening post to listen in on Harvard and MIT.”

The geographic facts check out. Zorro Ranch, Epstein’s New Mexico property, sits roughly 35 miles from Los Alamos National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories – two of the most sensitive nuclear weapons research facilities in the United States. One Brattle Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is a short walk from both Harvard Yard and MIT.

Weinstein also points to a clip from the Steve Bannon interview with Epstein – recorded before Epstein’s arrest and death – in which Epstein himself explained why he purchased the New Mexico ranch:

“He literally says why did I get the ranch in New Mexico, the Zorro Ranch. It was because Los Alamos was downsizing and firing its nuclear weapons physicists and high priests of high energy physics and I wanted to be close to them.”

Weinstein’s interpretation: when the Cold War ended and the U.S. “decided that it was entitled to a cold war dividend by screwing the very people who won the cold war,” Epstein saw an opportunity to collect disaffected, world-class scientists whose security clearances and knowledge had suddenly lost their institutional home.

“Is there no one at the Department of Energy who knows what their job is? Because the Department of Energy is tasked with safeguarding our national laboratories.”

The Four Forces and Why Gravity Matters

The bridge between Epstein’s science network and the UFO disclosure story, in Weinstein’s framing, runs through fundamental physics – specifically through gravity.

“There are four forces of nature. We know how to control two of them somewhat. The strong force and the electromagnetic force. The strong force is what we got control of in 1945 and took out two cities in Japan. What happens when you can control gravity? This is absolutely national interest.”

This is the argument’s most speculative layer, but it rests on real physics. The four fundamental forces – gravity, electromagnetism, the strong nuclear force, and the weak nuclear force – are the bedrock of modern physics. The U.S. government’s ability to weaponize the strong force (nuclear weapons) and the electromagnetic force (directed energy, radar, communications) is well-documented. Gravity remains the least understood and least controllable of the four.

Weinstein argues that whoever Epstein was working for understood this:

“Physics and mathematics are much more powerful than money. And mathematics created Bitcoin… And physics created the ability to end the human species as we know it.”

He extends this to Stephen Hawking, whose name appears hundreds of times in the Epstein files. Weinstein argues that Hawking – along with Nobel laureate Roger Penrose – represented strategic assets in general relativity and quantum theory:

“Kindly old Stephen Hawking was a very potent physicist who might give a military advantage or a national interest advantage to anyone who could understand his mind.”

Weinstein also cites the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) results from 2025, which showed hints that the cosmological constant may not be constant – suggesting that the foundations of spacetime physics may be shifting. This is real, published science. But Weinstein’s leap from “the cosmological constant may evolve” to “spacetime is about to be superseded” goes well beyond what the DESI team has claimed.

‘The UFO Weirdness Is Not Just About UFOs’

When Morgan asked directly about UFOs and Trump’s February 2026 directive to release classified files, Weinstein did not claim to know what’s in those files. He described a pattern he can’t resolve:

“There is more accumulated anecdotal, circumstantial, and sporadic evidence of an enormous program about UFOs than I know how to dismiss.”

He described consistent firsthand accounts from people he’s spoken with – “non-actors delivered with perfect sincerity that would make Hollywood blush” – describing objects in the skies and seas, and U.S. government employees “with no insignia and no identification behaving in bizarre ways.”

But Weinstein’s more structural claim is about infrastructure:

“There’s probably a very long-standing program, particularly involving physics and particularly involving aerospace companies, not as aerospace as we know it, but as shells, in which you can put very sensitive stuff that could be FOIAed if it was found inside of government.”

This directly echoes allegations made by David Grusch in his 2023 congressional testimony about crash-retrieval programs housed within defense contractors, and the Immaculate Constellation whistleblower report’s claims about how UAP imagery is compartmented outside normal government channels. It also aligns with Christopher Mellon’s argument that real disclosure won’t come from archival data dumps because the most sensitive material sits outside standard classification systems.

And then Weinstein tied it directly to the physics:

“The UFO weirdness is not just about UFOs. It’s about the golden age of general relativity and US attempts to gain control over additional forces of nature.”

He named Wright-Patterson Air Force Base – home of the former Foreign Technology Division, now the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC), and a facility deeply embedded in UFO lore since the 1940s – as a place that “is going to be very important.” He also referenced sites in Indiana and multiple locations in New Mexico.

The New Mexico Nexus

This is where all of Weinstein’s threads converge. New Mexico is home to:

  • Los Alamos National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories – the core of the U.S. nuclear weapons complex
  • Kirtland Air Force Base – where the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Phillips site was commanded by Maj. Gen. William McCasland, who is currently missing
  • Roswell – the most famous location in UFO history
  • Zorro Ranch – Jeffrey Epstein’s New Mexico property, where he told Bannon he went to collect laid-off weapons physicists

Weinstein argues this geographic concentration is not a coincidence:

“New Mexico is going to be the hub that connects atomic weapons, UFOs, and Jeffrey Epstein. And they’re all going to merge into one story about power that we don’t understand.”

He also invoked Bill Richardson, the former Governor of New Mexico who served as Secretary of Energy from 1998 to 2001. The Department of Energy – which Weinstein notes evolved from the Atomic Energy Commission, where “atomic energy was the cover story for atomic weapons” – is the custodian of the national laboratories and has its own intelligence wing tasked with safeguarding them.

Richardson, who died in September 2023, had documented interactions with Epstein, including efforts to negotiate the release of detained Americans abroad. The full scope of their relationship has not been publicly established.

What’s Documented and What Isn’t

Weinstein delivered these claims with the confidence of a man who has been saying versions of them for years. Some of what he said is now a matter of record:

ClaimStatus
Epstein had deep, sustained access to elite scientistsDocumented – Nature, AP, Harvard Crimson reporting on DOJ files
Epstein invested in and influenced scientific researchDocumented – Nature (Feb 2026)
Zorro Ranch is near LANL and SandiaFact – geographic proximity is ~35 miles
Epstein said he bought the ranch to be near downsized physicistsPartly sourced – from Bannon interview transcript
Hawking appears extensively in the Epstein filesDocumented – multiple news reports
The U.S. has formal structures for compartmented secret programs (SAPs)Documented – DoD Instruction 5205.11
DESI hints the cosmological constant may not be constantDocumented – Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, 2025
Epstein was a “science spy” working an intelligence taskingWeinstein’s thesis – underlying access is documented, espionage purpose is not publicly proven
New Mexico unifies atomic weapons, UFOs, and Epstein into one storyWeinstein’s interpretive synthesis – individual elements are real, the unified narrative is his
UAP programs are housed in aerospace contractor shellsAlleged – echoed by Grusch and Immaculate Constellation report, denied by DoD

The distinction matters. Weinstein is not a whistleblower with firsthand classified knowledge. He is a mathematician and public intellectual connecting documented dots into a larger picture. Some of those connections are compelling. Some outrun the evidence. The value of his argument is not that it’s proven – it’s that the documented pieces are now substantial enough to take the larger questions seriously.
