Eric Ross Weinstein is an American mathematician, economist, and media figure who serves as managing director of Thiel Capital, the private investment firm of billionaire Peter Thiel. His 1992 Harvard PhD dissertation – on extensions of self-dual Yang–Mills equations – sits at the intersection of differential geometry and theoretical physics, work he has since connected publicly to gravitational theory and the broader physics of spacetime. He coined the term “Intellectual Dark Web” in a 2018 New York Times profile and hosts The Portal, a long-form podcast that has featured Nobel laureates, physicists, and intelligence community figures.

Weinstein’s relevance to UAP discourse is indirect but increasingly significant. He has not worked inside government, does not claim firsthand classified knowledge, and is not a whistleblower. His contribution is analytical: drawing connections between Jeffrey Epstein’s documented infiltration of elite science, the strategic value of fundamental physics to national security, and the long-standing secrecy surrounding UFO-adjacent programs. His March 2026 appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored crystallized a thesis he has been building for years – that Epstein, nuclear weapons, and the UFO phenomenon converge in New Mexico through a shared infrastructure of physics, secrecy, and power.

Role in UAP Disclosure

The Epstein–Science–UFO Thesis

Weinstein’s core argument, developed across years of public commentary and formalized in his March 2026 Piers Morgan interview, is that Jeffrey Epstein was not primarily a sex trafficker who happened to know scientists – he was a science intelligence operative who used sex trafficking as one tool in a broader collection apparatus.

Weinstein points to Epstein’s strategic positioning near the most sensitive nodes of American physics: Zorro Ranch near Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico, and One Brattle Square in Cambridge within walking distance of Harvard and MIT. He cites Epstein’s own words – from a Steve Bannon interview – claiming he purchased the New Mexico property because Los Alamos was downsizing and he “wanted to be close to” the displaced nuclear weapons physicists.

In February 2026, reporting by Nature and the Associated Press on newly released DOJ documents confirmed the scale of Epstein’s science access: investments in research projects, donations to MIT and Harvard, a list of nearly 30 top scientists, and deep involvement in researchers’ work – including consultations on publications, visas, and public relations crises. Weinstein argues this access pattern is consistent with intelligence collection, not philanthropy.

Gravity, the Four Forces, and National Security

Weinstein’s bridge to the UFO topic runs through fundamental physics. He frames the history of U.S. national security in terms of controlling the four fundamental forces of nature: the strong nuclear force (weaponized in 1945), the electromagnetic force (radar, communications, directed energy), and gravity – which remains uncontrolled and, in his view, represents the next frontier of strategic advantage.

His own PhD work on self-dual Yang–Mills equations, which he says connects to gravitational theory, is central to this argument. He claims Epstein possessed information about this work from the late 1980s – before it was widely recognized as gravity-adjacent – suggesting a level of scientific sophistication or intelligence briefing beyond what a financier would normally possess.

He has also proposed Geometric Unity, an ambitious and contested attempt at a unified theory of physics that he first presented publicly in 2013 at Oxford. The theory has not been published in a peer-reviewed journal and has drawn both interest and skepticism from professional physicists.

New Mexico as the Nexus

Weinstein’s most quotable and most speculative claim is that New Mexico is “the hub that connects atomic weapons, UFOs, and Jeffrey Epstein.” The geographic facts are real: New Mexico is home to Los Alamos, Sandia, Kirtland Air Force Base (where Maj. Gen. McCasland commanded the AFRL Phillips site), Roswell, and Zorro Ranch. Former New Mexico governor Bill Richardson served as Secretary of Energy – the department that oversees the national laboratories and maintains its own intelligence wing.

Whether these threads constitute a single coherent story or a geographic coincidence that lends itself to narrative construction is an open question. Weinstein presents it as the former. No public investigation has independently unified them.

SAPs and the Architecture of Secrecy

Weinstein has been one of the most effective public communicators of how U.S. government secrecy is formally structured. He regularly explains the hierarchy of Special Access Programs (SAPs), unacknowledged SAPs, and waived unacknowledged SAPs – pointing out that these are not conspiracy theories but documented containers for classified programs, governed by DoD Instruction 5205.11. His argument: dismissing conspiracy thinking as inherently irrational ignores the fact that the U.S. government has created formal administrative structures for conspiracies.

Stephen Hawking and Roger Penrose

Weinstein has argued that Stephen Hawking and Nobel laureate Roger Penrose – two of the most important figures in general relativity – represented strategic intelligence assets. He points to Hawking’s extensive presence in the Epstein files (hundreds of mentions) and argues that anyone who could “understand his mind” would gain a potential military or national interest advantage. He has been careful to distinguish Hawking’s documented associations from any implication of criminal conduct.

Notable Statements

“People are not understanding this was a science spy and he was spying direct… He was spying directly on my work.” – Piers Morgan Uncensored, March 6, 2026

“New Mexico is going to be the hub that connects atomic weapons, UFOs, and Jeffrey Epstein. And they’re all going to merge into one story about power that we don’t understand.” – Piers Morgan Uncensored, March 6, 2026

“There are four forces of nature. We know how to control two of them somewhat. The strong force and the electromagnetic force… What happens when you can control gravity? This is absolutely national interest.” – Piers Morgan Uncensored, March 6, 2026

“The UFO weirdness is not just about UFOs. It’s about the golden age of general relativity and US attempts to gain control over additional forces of nature.” – Piers Morgan Uncensored, March 6, 2026

“There is more accumulated anecdotal, circumstantial, and sporadic evidence of an enormous program about UFOs than I know how to dismiss.” – Piers Morgan Uncensored, March 6, 2026

“Physics and mathematics are much more powerful than money. And mathematics created Bitcoin… And physics created the ability to end the human species as we know it.” – Piers Morgan Uncensored, March 6, 2026

“Is there no one at the Department of Energy who knows what their job is? Because the Department of Energy is tasked with safeguarding our national laboratories.” – Piers Morgan Uncensored, March 6, 2026

“Kindly old Stephen Hawking was a very potent physicist who might give a military advantage or a national interest advantage to anyone who could understand his mind.” – Piers Morgan Uncensored, March 6, 2026
